FOR 3RD GRADE
DATA ANALYSIS AND PROBABILITY is a common core content. Common core content means it touches K-12 students.
The State expected 3rd grade student to have exposure on data analysis by analyzing tables with associated given information and help them to draw conclusion based on the information presented. This is an appropriate challenging question for 3rd grade student because they can relate from their playground game the jump rope activity and the whole number counting is up to 12 ( adding 6 + 6 ).
The concept of data analysis , drawing conclusion from given information are very important lesson to learn. This will help the student to develop critical thinking and reasoning ability needed in higher mathematics. In the age of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence critical thinking and reasoning is needed to manage and control narrow Artificial Intelligence.
Students are expected to summarize mathematical information, explain reasoning and draw conclusion.
